April 28, 2009 ~ Making The New Record!
So it has officially begun--the band and I have started recording my next album. We’ve spent a total of about 7 days in the studio here and there, and have been making some good progress. The magic is happening at an incredible home studio here in Austin that has awesome equipment, a great sounding room, and a relaxed feel. From the moment I walked in I felt right at home. I’m going about making this record very differently than I did Ledger in Nashville. The second time around I think I’m learning even more: more about myself, my abilities, and my limitations; how to listen; how to speak up; when to push on, and when to give up and try another day. So far it’s been so good and I can’t wait to hold this record in my hand. I am not exactly sure when that moment will be, but we’re shooting for early fall.

March 9, 2009 ~ NX35 & SXSW
Don’t let the names confuse you. Yes, both are festivals here in Texas, but the NX35 is up in Denton--just north of Fort Worth, and the the fabulous SXSW is of course here in Austin.
I’ll be playing up at Dan’s Silver Leaf in Denton this Thursday night at 8, followed by The Heelers and James McMurtry.
For SXSW I’m playing a free unofficial showcase called TeXChromosome down at Opal Divine’s on W. 6th street. There are some truly great other rockin’ Texas women such as Penny Jo Pullus, Chrissy Flatt, and Bonny Holmes. It all starts at 11am on March 20th and the band and I hit the stage at 3:45pm.
I’ll be around all week during SX and would love to hang with anyone coming down from Nashville. I may even have some couch space available but it’s going fast.....

January 14, 2009 ~ “The Loft” with Peter Bradley Adams on XM Radio

January 12, 2009 ~ Rockin’ in the New Year
I must say so far 2009 has been pretty great for me. I’ve started pre-production on my new album, making some improvements on my electric guitar, and recently saw one of my true inspirations—Kathleen Edwards—perform at the Continental Club here in Austin. What a show! I won’t be playing too many shows myself since all of my efforts will be focused on recording, but there may be a few solo appearances here and there and I’ll be sure to post them.
November 21, 2008 ~ December Happenings
So I’m back from another tour with Peter Bradley Adams and have some things in store for Austin during the month of December. I’m excited to say that one of my songs was chosen for the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau’s 2008 Holiday CD, featuring local artists doing original holiday songs. My cut, “New Year’s Kiss” made it as track 11, and I’ll be performing it live on KGSR on Dec. 3rd at 9 am. You can get your paws on a hard copy at Waterloo Records, the Austin Visitor’s Center on 6th St., or at http://www.austintexas.org. Secondly, I’m returning to Flipnotics in South Austin on Thursday nights starting Dec. 4th, with the exception of the 25th. I’ve invited special guests Matt Harlan from Houston, a local favorite Juliana Murphy to join me on a couple of the evenings, and I hope to see you all there!!

Singing with Peter Bradley Adams has only brought great things into my life. July 23, 2008 ~ Mountain Stage
This Sunday I’ll be singing some harmonies with Peter Bradley Adams on the NPR broadcasted show Mountain Stage. Amos Lee, Papa Mali, the Steeldrivers, and Sharon Little are also on the bill. I’m so excited!! It will be the first time my voice will be on National Public Radio. I’ve done local public shows before, but this program will be heard live locally, and then syndicated across the nation in fall. It’s so funny that one of my concerns is what I’m going to wear!

June 23, 2008 ~ Shows This Week
That’s right, there’s 3 of them. I wish every week was like this one. Tuesday night I’m headed to Houston to sing at the Mucky Duck with my friend Peter Bradley Adams. Abra Moore and Will Sexton are also on the bill. Friday night Peter’s opening for me and my band at Showlush’s back yard, 1704 Kinney Avenue here in Austin. It’s a great scene and a fun party that is open to anyone--as long as you behave yourself for the most part. If you have any questions about your behavior, please email me and we can discuss whether or not it’s appropriate. Saturday I’ll be with Peter again at the Cactus Cafe on the U.T. Campus. It’s gonna be a hot week in more ways than one!!

June 3, 2008 ~ Living In Austin
I don’t think it can get much better really. Being from one music capital and living in the other. It’s just perfect. I’ve been here for 5 months now and this city and its people keep inspiring me over and over. My move has been great fodder for many new songs, and there’s a new record in its early stages. I have also found myself a great new band that has helped me to rock more than I ever thought I could. The adventures I have here are frequent and fantastic. Stay tuned to hear more!
